Did you know that you can book a beer barrel on AirBNB?
Sleeping in barrels, apparently, is not just for hobos anymore. Obviously beer culture is a big thing in Germany, but this just takes it one step further. The barrel in this AirBNB listing was in use in the 19th century, doing its beer-making thing, before it was turned into a bed; it actually looks pretty appealing (well, as long as you’re not claustrophobic). Apparently the beer-barrel-bed rooms were made in cooperation with a regional brewery, so if you were wondering what there is to do nearby…well, there you go!
Bonus: the room comes with a flat-screen TV and wifi, so you can enjoy your barrel 21st-century style. As far as alternative lodgings go, this one is pretty awesome.
Apparently the property also features a “barrel sauna.” What is a barrel sauna? I don’t know, who cares? On the bucket list it goes!
If you’re interested, the barrel lodgings are in Ostbevern, Germany, one room sleeps up to four people, and the rate is about $137 a night. Booking is done through the AirBNB listing, and the photos are AirBNB certified.
